MONTREAL, Feb. 01, 2016 -- Toon Boom Animation Inc. announced today a technology partnership with Toronto-based Guru Studio. Under this collaboration agreement, the engineers of both R&D teams will work together to develop and incorporate innovative software features into Toon Boom Harmony, the leading software in the animation industry.
“The goal of this partnership is to leverage Guru’s expertise as Toon Boom continues to bring innovative technical developments to Harmony,” said Michel Besner, President of Toon Boom. “Our mission as a technology creator is to develop software that will further meet the demands of an industry which is in constant evolution.”
Over the past three years, Guru Studio has developed a number of innovative custom modules for Harmony while creating the hit show Ever After High. These advancements have allowed Guru's artists to create award-winning animation while improving their workflow by using custom tools that were key in realizing Guru’s creative vision.
Toon Boom will work with Guru Studio to bring some of these modules to the global Harmony customer base, extending the powerful toolset found in Harmony while giving artists the means to push the envelope in animation quality even further.
"The custom tools we've been able to implement in Harmony have freed our artists and allowed them to focus their skills on strong posing, design and subtle facial acting,“ said Chris Fourney, Senior 2D Software Architect at Guru Studio. “We are excited to bring some of these tools to the global community of Harmony artists and we look forward to developing new technology that continues to advance the art of animation and our relationship with Toon Boom," said Frank Falcone, President and Creative Director at Guru Studio.
